Ruraue (Rur Meadow)

The Ruraue is the “green” axis of the region. Many of the riverside areas have already been destroyed. However, the Ruraue shows a rich fauna and flora. The meadow vegetation alternates between grassland, pasture, and arid grasslands rich with flowers. Endangered species like the water blackbird can be found habitating here.

The Ruraue has an outstanding value for its natural beauty. This fact was emphasized when this beautiful landscape in the heart of the city became a protected area.
